Famous model testified on the 29th of July concerning the case of the Sierra Leone blood diamonds Naomi has appeared in front of the ICC concerning the blood diamonds she was accused of having received from Liberia’s former president Charles Taylor, who is currently on trial at The Hague for having perpetuated war crimes during the ten years civil war of Sierra Leone. According to BBC, the super model has been summoned to testify before the court on the 29th of July. Naomi’s representative has stated that Campbell is a witness, and was summoned to help clearing the case in 1997. “Ms Campbell wishes to help the procedure”. “ In order to avoid any misunderstandings, it has to be clear that Naomi Campbell isn’t accused of anything and is not the one on trial”, the representative of famous model, has added. The Hague has stated that Charles Taylor has offered to Naomi some diamonds in the rough as a present in 1997, while at Nelson’s Mandela home, in South Africa. The super model had previously refused to testify on the case. In an interview given by Naomi Campbell at Oprah’s show, the model neither confirmed or denied receiving the precious stones. She declared that “I do not wish to participate in this affair. This man as done appalling things and I do not wish to place my family in danger”.
