Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry

Elizabeth Taylor is famous for her beauty and her violet eyes, her charity work, her seven husbands, and her unique jewelry as well. Her precious collection comprises some of the world’s most stunning pieces, while many of them, if not all, have been offered to her by the men of her life. In 2002, she wrote a book entitled Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry, where she shares with her readers her stunning collection composed by amazing diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Some of the most notable pieces in Taylor’s collection are the 33 carat diamond ring Krupp, the pearl La Peregrine (a Valentine’s gift by Richard Burton), an antique diamond tiara (a gift from Mike Todd), the Taj Mahal necklace with the yellow heart-shaped diamond (another gift from Burton), the pin with the “duchess of Windsor” diamond, a diamond ring of 29 carats ) a gift from Mike Todd), the 69 carat pear shaped diamond Taylor-Burton and the emeralds of the Great Duchess of Russia. “ I am very lucky to own some jewelry of that importance. I do not believe that any of these pieces are mine. I believe that I am their guardian, and that they are here so that I can enjoy them, take care of them, keep them safe and love them.”, declares the actress in her book. Elizabeth Taylor started her new line of jewelry in 2005, under the name House of Taylor Jewelry. The new company struggled to win a place in the jewelry industry, but didn’t succeed and unfortunately had to declare bankruptcy in 2008. Last December another shop House of Taylor Jewelry opened in Beverly Hills but Taylor couldn’t be present due to some health issues. Even though the life of the actress has been more than full of cinematic success and unique romances, jewels always have kept an important place in her heart.
