| The most expensive bracelet in the History of Sotheby’s |
Wallis Simpson was an American divorcee for whom the King Edward the 8th refused the throne of Great Britain in December 1936. Since their wedding in 1937 and until the end of their lives, the passionate couple – named duke and duchess of Windsor after the resignation of the king- lived in exile in France and the U.S. The personal properties of Wallis Simpson were auctioned at Sotheby’s, last Tuesday. The jewelry of the American lady was sold for a total sum of 8 million dollars. The Cartier Bracelet, shaped like a panther, which started at a price of 1 million pounds and eventually sold for 4,5 millions- even though some of his precious stones were missing-, won the title of the most expensive bracelet in the history of the auction house. It is whispered that the stunning bracelet has been bought by the queen of pop, Madonna, but the rumor has yet to be certified. |
